Invasive Species Control
What is it?
Invasive species are non-native plants that are highly competitive, adaptive and successful at thriving. They usurp the habitats of other species putting native species at risk. Invasive species can compromise the structural integrity of buildings and pavements. If left untreated they can reduce both the commercial and amenity value of a site.
Failing to deal with these invasive species can result in breaking the law. The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, for example, requires that landowners and tenants take all reasonable steps to control Japanese Knotweed from infringing into adjoining land. Penalties for causing an infestation can be as serious as two years imprisonment and/or a large fine.
Invasive species control keeps these problem species to a minimum; it is an essential role to fulfil to protect your land and assets.
