GIS and Data Entry
What is it?
GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is used to capture, manage, analyse and present different forms of spatial information.
How do we do it?
We use GIS software to digitise data collected during desk top surveys, field surveys and monitoring programmes, producing high quality maps to display the results. We use databases such as Recorder 6 for collection and collation of biological records.
Who have we done it for?
- In 2009 we carried out an aerial photograph interpretation project for Leeds City Council entering all of the results onto GIS.
- We have worked with Natural England to map their priority areas for biodiversity.
- Wildscapes is currently entering species data onto Recorder 6 for the biological records centre at Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.
