Introducing our new Landscape Architect Pam Molyneux
Landscape architect Pam Molyneux joined us in June, bringing with her almost three decades of experience in both the private and public sectors. Pam shares our passion for enhancing the natural environment for the benefit of both wildlife and people and has a particular interest in encouraging food production within urban areas.
She says: “I was attracted by the ethos of Wildscapes, because everything the consultancy does is about improving the environment. I enjoy the challenge of transforming degraded areas into places which are better for both people and wildlife. I knew in this role I would be making a real difference to communities and the environment.”
In her previous roles Pam, who is a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI), has designed and implemented many successful landscape schemes including recreational improvements, cycle routes, footpaths, educational grounds, housing regeneration and flood alleviation schemes. Alongside her work at Wildscapes, she is studying for her Masters Degree in Resource and Environmental Management at Lancaster University.
A current project which Pam is supporting is ‘Riverlution’ – a scheme to improve the ecology around the Riverside pub in Mowbray Street, Sheffield. The pub overlooks the River Don and has a terrace facing the water as well as some land on the bank. The aim is to make the pub into a new ‘hub’ for a riverside community, spreading both information and enthusiasm for similar projects along other stretches of the bank. Wildscapes is working on the project with pub owners Point Blank, The River Stewardship Company and The Environment Agency.
Pam says: “This is a fantastic project because it has the potential to really engage the community and create a new connection point for people who care about Sheffield’s waterways and by growing some of the food they need on site the business is cutting down on ‘food miles’ which is good for the environment.”
Pam has extensive experience in working for public sector clients through either contract procurement methods or direct labour teams, which will be very relevant for her role at Wildscapes. She has also received an award for her innovative design of urban car parks.
